Another successful volunteer day at The Urban Outreach Center NYC

September 2024 – Members of the Orangewood team took part in another day of volunteer work with The Urban Outreach Center NYC (“UOC”) to aid the organization in its mission to provide healthy food, clothing, hygiene essentials, and a variety of other social services to low-income individuals, immigrants, and women. Orangewood employees spent the day packaging and preparing food for hundreds of food-insecure New Yorkers. Annually, the UOC serves over 65,000 people each year across all five boroughs and New Jersey.

Orangewood employees spent several hours preparing and serving healthy, restaurant-quality dinner to hundreds of food-insecure New Yorkers. Annually, the UOC serves over 65,000 people each year across all five boroughs and New Jersey.

Orangewood Celebrates Women’s History Month

March 2024 – As part of Orangewood’s celebration of Women’s History Month, we were pleased to have Elaine Johnson, Chief Investment Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of Peaceable Street Capital, to share her background, her successes, and the challenges she has faced as a woman throughout her career as well as the progress she has seen for women in the workplace. Elaine led a very interactive presentation culminating in a thoughtful Q&A. We are grateful for the thoughtful and spirited conversation as we continue to find creative ways to reinforce our culture and create a truly exceptional work environment for our associates.

Team Orangewood partners with The Urban Outreach Center NYC

Orangewood employees handed out hundreds of fresh foods to food-insecure New Yorkers as part of the UOC’s farmer’s market-style food pantry. Annually the UOC serves over 65,000 people each year across all five boroughs and New Jersey.

Orangewood Gives Back

March 2023 – The Orangewood team partnered with Win NYC, the largest provider of family shelter and supportive housing in New York City, to provide both toiletry and menstrual product kits to at risk women and families enrolled in Win’s programs. Win runs 14 shelters and over 400 supportive housing units across New York City.

Louisville 8-year-old battling brain cancer becomes honorary Taco Bell employee

KENTUCKY – From the outside, it looked like a normal day at the St. Matthews Taco Bell, on Shelbyville Road. But inside, 8-year-old David Turner Jr. eagerly took orders from customers. Set up with his cousins behind the counter to help, this is the very Taco Bell his mom worked at when she was in high school.

$3.4 Million Awarded as Part of New York’s Historic Workforce Development Initiative

61 New York State businesses (including George Industries), community colleges and community-based organizations will receive funding for workforce development totaling $3.4 million as part of the state’s historic $175 million Workforce Development Initiative. Professional training is expected to provide 2,464 New Yorkers with in-demand skills.

Neighborhood Heroes— Dr. Cory Spurlock, Exer Urgent Care

CALIFORNIA – To overcome the catastrophic coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at hand, it’s important to recognize the positives. One beacon is selfless service. Countless acts by organizations and individuals alike are minimizing the lasting damage. This hard work isn’t only done by the ER doctors, nurses, and first responders constituting our last line of defense. It’s also the good Samaritans doing thankless work next door.

For high schools that are registered in this year’s program, on a set day we call a “Sports Physical Day,” we’re happy to lend our medical expertise to cover the cost of each athlete’s sports physical.

Cub Scouts & Scouts BSA Troops registered in our 2020 program will have the cost of each scout’s physical covered by us once they schedule a “Troop Physical Day” for their troop. In addition, we invite the respective troop to use their “Troop Physical Day” as a fundraising opportunity.

Love Your Melon

$1.4M+ Given to Masonic Children’s Hospital

On October 19th, the Love Your Melon team arrived at Masonic Children’s Hospital, as we have done so many times before. Masonic was the site of Love Your Melon’s very first beanie donation event, and in the ten years since, a deeply impactful partnership has blossomed. This visit was even more special. This visit was to commemorate reaching a donation milestone of $1.475 million to M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital with the unveiling of Love Your Melon’s new plaque on Masonic’s Million Dollar Wall, as well as Love Your Melon’s designs for the updated Family Resource Center.
